DARK AND MOODY ME

I still remember while I was in high school and in a very dark place; I was imagining that I am wielding a machine gun and get around shooting everyone. But then, I can’t stand to live without my family. So, that’s where it stopped.

I love it that Meredith & Yang (Grey’s Anatomy) portrays it perfectly while saying that there is absolutely nothing wrong with being myself.

Sometimes, I just want peace and quiet.
I wrote a mystery short story once (incomplete).
About a girl and her cousins that went into a haunted house. No idea where it ends though.

Genting

A week after CNY, the older Dragon brother came to visit. Called SY up at 5pm to get the direction to Lil’ Bro’s office, instead I ended up inviting her along for the trip. Well, she kind of hinted that she hasn’t been up for quite some time. She made up her mind at that one phone call then went home to pack up her things.

SY thought that Lil’ Bro’ was a girl seeing him walking over to us from his office building. He stinks of smoke when he’s in the car. We all kept mum about it. Pretended that the smell isn’t making us sick.

I missed a turn getting to Genting with the sign (Genting, Institut Aminuddin Baki) on the left and (Genting Highlands) on the right/ straight. I took the straight road, but all the same, it takes us to the same road up to Genting after having to do a U-turn and pass through McDonalds.
It was pretty intimidating driving up with 4 person in my compact car. But with shouts of instruction to change to low/2L gears from them brothers, we managed to reach Genting First World parking in one piece. The brothers were making fun of my driving skills and I yelled ‘Turuuuuun…!!’ Then everyone was like “Aaargh…. Haha... ”. We were all joking and kidding around which SY found endearing. It had gotten very foggy when we reached the top around 11.30pm. It forced everyone to drive slowly, because it was very difficult to read the signboard pointing the way to the carpark.Luckily, there was plenty of empty parking spaces on that Friday night. The KIOSK Check-In Machine can’t process us, since we have already exceeded the Check-In time. And luckily for us as well, it only took us 15minutes to complete our counter check-in.

SY was sporting enough to join us since all of us will be sleeping in the same room. She tried to converse in Mandarin with the elder bro,but he seems to always be ignoring her or pretended not to be listening. His spoken English is of an English educated person with the ‘right..’ at the back of his sentences. A proper one. I had goosebumps just listening to him speak with the hotel’s receptionist on the phone. While my English is of Chinese Malaysian style complete with the ‘mah’, ‘meh’ and ‘lah’ in my sentences.

He was out till early morning between 5am- 6am. I was getting worried and had to text him and ask him to come back. The little one just sit at Starbuck till 3am-4am wearing my cardigan and making it smell of smoke. Euwe~!! I had half a mind to let him freeze himself.
I also managed to lose RM20 gambling, take Lil’ Bro back to his house, take Elder Bro to airport (with plenty of time to spare) and take SY back home safely. Yay me! I wasn’t too worried driving up because I have my boys with me.

Will there be another trip up with me driving?
Yes... With the right group of people.:).

CNY 2012 Recap

I have been wanting to write about my Chinese New Year holiday for quite some time now, but I didn’t get around to do it. Until now.

Remember the promise I made last year ‘”To attend the big Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner 団圆饭 at my cousin’s place”? Well I skipped it. Again.

I even skipped on the annual get-together with my friends and my brothers’ friends. I always had a lot of fun going to that particular gathering. But since my mom was asking me to stick around to be one of their ‘kaki’ to gamble, I had no choice but to obey the woman who gave birth to me.

I do see myself as an anti-social person. I fell quiet when there were more talkative people in the group. I mean I preferred it because I don’t have to do all the talking in an awkward situation.

I remembered one time, that G had to drag me across the floor by my feet to go ‘Yum Cha’. I don’t feel comfortable going to a place where I had to ride pillion on a bike. Not because it was with Beachboy. It doesn’t help to know that there was a high death statistic of College students around the area. There was big ass construction Lorries all around us!!
Anyway, I did manage to get together with my childhood friends. Linah & Cheryl. Chal was also at the same place and at the same time. I got to spend some personal time with Cousin Induk & Isut as well over a short drink.

The main thing that I wanted to tell you are that, it rained the whole week I was there (Ranau). It actually felt like I was living in Fork,Washington. And the Cullens’ house is just around the corner. It literally rained the whole day from 3am till 7pm. Stopped for a while and rained again till the next day!

But I…. loved it. I love the rainy weather. I loved how it made me lethargic and want to do nothing other than sleep or hibernate the whole day. Yeah, that’s how lazy I am.All this while I thought that I was of a water Dog sign. This explains why I love the rain. But then it turns out that I am of a Strong Fire Dog Sign (From an astrology website that my boss found). Which probably explains why I can’t swim and I’m terrified of drowning. I slept with the fan on (I have to have some breeze on my face, else I feel like I can’t breathe), 2 layers of blankets and also wearing a sweater. I can’t remember where my socks are. Mom had rearranged my whole wardrobe. So my feet were freezing.

I spent time with my brothers, mom and dad, with the nanny, with the baby, with the lady of the house- Shenaiah and with the in-laws. I loved watching how Shenaiah controlled all of us. How we would all give her anything that she wanted. Well almost all. With Khiong in particular. For those who don’t know this 2nd elder brother of mine, let me tell you something. He is the most introvert person I know. Growing up, he keeps to himself. Really hot tempered and doesn’t like anybody messing with any of his stuff. He had a very short fuse. So I was really surprised that he can take all of the Shenaiah. She would grab the iPad from him while he’s playing Armies of Darkness. He would just muttered ‘You don’t know how to play this’. And she would say ‘I know... I know…’. The sweetest thing I saw was, he was lying on the sofa with his head propped against a big fluffy pillow while playing with the iPad and Shenaiah was leaning her head on the side of his head to look in on the action. Aw moment here. Other aw moment was when the boys (my cousin Kelek & lil’ bro’ Aping) gave Grandma Umpil a hug.

The other thing that I admired about my niece is that, she would speak Mandarin with my Dad. Y also noticed this and recalled back when we were little, no matter how often my Dad spoke to us in Mandarin, we would always replied in Malay. One time she even said, ‘Bye bye Kung Kung’.. to myDad when she was leaving the room. Dad had quite a hearing problem. So, she repeated it several times until my Dad actually acknowledged her. Erm, and I think I have inherited the hearing problem.

When 3rd elder brother’s wife family came tovisit, I kind of hid in the bedroom or take over gambling from the tired ‘kaki’. Actually I did the comical version of back-against-the-wall act. :D. Luckily I have the most extrovert (this is a compliment) Eldest brother & wifey, who did all the socializing for us. Heh :). Y was not even around at that time! He was at the annual gathering at a friend’s house. The very one that I missed out on.

An Oversea Weekend

Went to Singapore for the weekend last week with Boss, Ms Yeap & Ms Ho.
I wasn't really sure why i was invited along for the trip. But i am happy that i was. We drove over. And after two traffic summonses. We reach Singapore in 3Hrs!!

Stayed in M Hotel near Anson Road. Had a fabulously cool and huge room on the M Club floor. Took pictures while we're there.

Boss did treated us all the way. My colleagues didn't even have any Singapore currencies. I still had mine from my last visit and i topped it up with another $50. I did bought me a new Guess money purse. Since the one Gale gave me during my birthdays are all peeled off. It was on sale. So i bought it at $62.00.

Really felt like we were living the successful business woman life. Boss also treated us on the Singapore River Boat Cruise. I think the ticket is $7 per person.

We had a drink at the hotel's J Club. I ordered the Singapore Sling for Ms Ho. She said it was like drinking medicine. And i also ordered the Long Island Iced Tea for Ms Yeap. She couldn't stomach it because they made it too strong. I had my favorite Bailey's Irish Cream on the rocks. Boss just had beer.

Our breakfast was at Katong. Had the Laksa Katong. Loved it!! It was located at Ceylon Road.
The main reason for our trip is to study the outdoor a/c design there to be implemented here.
The thing that bothers me most is that my phone didn't have any signal. 'No service'...Wonder why?
