Not Again!!

A day before I was supposed to fly off to KK. I was running an errand for my office- getting a Statutory Declaration Stamp for one the sh*tty project that was thrown at me. After I had gotten the 3rd party form for my boss to sign, I went down to the basement where I parked my car. As I was in the car & on my way to the exit, I saw a red Kenari that was slowly coming up from the lower Basement ramp, it was so effin obvious that she was supposed to give way. The way she slowly came up also suggesting that she was going to stop to let me pass. When I was an arm length away from the collision, I realized that she wasn’t stopping. The stupidest thing I did was, struck out my arm and yelled “Ooops…” instead of slamming on the car honk. I thought that she had bang into my passenger side door. When I came out of the car to inspect the damage, it wasn’t as bad as I thought. I asked her “ Didn’t you see my car?!” “ You didn’t look for cars before you’re coming out?!”
She said she did but she was looking at the other direction!! WTF!
She even has the nerve to say for us to settle this ourselves. Which I thought she meant that I will settle my damaged & she’ll settle hers. I was so furious that I said, it wasn’t even my fault, why should I pay for your mistake! She wanted to argue some more, but I said I had the right of way since my way is the straightway.
I told her i know a workshop nearby but they don’t do any aesthetic fixing.
She told me she also know a workshop at KL. Again, I was controlling my temper, why would I follow you back to KL!!
I keep saying how? She has no idea. Then I said I’ll go and ask quotations and let her know the price. Got her card and gave her mine. Her parting words are “Ok, just give me the bill and I will settle it, I don’t want to claim insurance”.
I am really hoping that she is an honest lady.
Then as I was leaving, my car engine/ battery sort of died on me. “Are you kidding me?..Give me a break!!”..
I tried again a couple of times and it start. Phew..
Then I inserted the coins into the exit turnstile gate machine, and guess what? I have to pay it at the ticketing machine.
I was already in a bad mood that morning, since my boss screwed up my plan for the day.
I ended up not being able to do what I had planned.

Blissful Me

It's raining. I'm all curled up and wrapped up in my thin blue blanket.. My feet are cold. Though my stomach's begging for breakfast, i am still thinking whether to stay in bed or get up and scour the kitchen for the fried rice MamaRoach said she'd cooked. Hm.. Fried rice it is!

2011 Year End

It’s always the year end that I am starting to post all these nonsense. And I have a lot of it.

I read in the horoscope that Capricornian are ambitious.
Where have all MY ambition gone to?

Not that there’s anything wrong with reading a book/ ibook. I am now on my 4th book of George R.R. Martin’s book A Feast For Crows. But I need me some new hobby. The adventurous kind. And playing Snoopy Street Fair is NOT a hobby.

It seems like I need a whole new dictionary to understand the book. They don’t have ‘kingsmoot’, ‘septa’ or even ‘maester’ in the regular Oxford dictionary.

I am happy for Lil’ Bro who has found a job that he truly likes and enjoys doing. Even though one time, he had to start work at 4.30am.

And I was bothering/ whatsapping my friends about insignificant stuff while they are busy with work. :p.
So, LP is will be going to Bangkok on Christmas eve and coming back on the 28th, but will only start work next year!! Jealous!! (@_@)

G is busy with work now. My senior HF will be on holiday to clear her annual leave starting from the 27th-29th Dec. Fun!

So, it’s official. I haven’t taken any MC for 2011.

Me & another colleague- Mr. N. :P. A repeat of my 1st & 2nd year in my company.

The most MC taken is by our drafter Ms. R.

The most unpaid leave is by our very own Ms. H. : ). Haha.

And now it’s time for my Current List
Current favorite book: A Feast For Crow- George Raymond Richard Martin (hope you can finish your book in time).

Current favorite song: It will Rain- Bruno Mars- Twilight: Breaking Dawn Soundtrack (this guy can do no wrong).

Current favorite movie: Believe it or not (None at the moment)

Current favorite TV series: New Girl (adorkable Zooey Deschanel)

Current favorite Reality TV Shows: The Voice (It’s over now but new season is coming up)

Current favorite Celebrity: Blake Shelton (For those who didn’t watch The Voice, you might be thinking ‘Who?’ ..But, honestly he’s funny AND tall  ;) ..) I love the song “Don’t Drink The Water” by Brad Paisley & Blake Shelton.

Current favorite drink: Green Tea

Current favorite fashion: Work: Skirt & Shirt, Casual: Skirt & T-shirt, Party: Dress. I love the way Jess’ dress (New Girl).

It’s getting harder to think of any Current Favorite things now..

Favorite Love & Hate Gadget: iPhone. I used to be able to go to work on time & sleep earlier at night. It’s wasting my time.

Deck the Halls

It’s Christmas time again!

After spending almost all of my Christmas holidays alone for the past few years (the loneliest time was the dinner I had at Old Town White Coffee, which was my own choice. A friend did invited me to a club in KL, but I was not in the mood to go. I now will be spending X’mas with my family & relatives back home. Be it KK or Ranau, it doesn’t even matter to me anymore. As long as I am surrounded by family. In KK, I can spend time with Eden (baby nephew) & a little dose of Shenaiah. She’s a handful.

Christmas Memories
The Christmas that I remember back home was, an invitation to Nenek Umpil’s house or cousin Brielly’s house. Recently I found out from Geni that it is also Nenek Umpil’s birthday! There was also a Mr. Santa Claus with candy in his red sack at Nenek Umpil’s. But again this is when I lost a pair of brand new AirWalk shoes. Bohoo...

Another reason why I love December is because it is also my birthday month! And my cake is always beautifully decorated with Christmas Santa Décor, X’mas trees and other ornaments. Sometimes I can even get an ice-cream cake (twice that I remembered)!

One X’mas, I bought almost all of my colleagues a Christmas present, T-shirt for the guys and bracelet for the girls.

My only wishlist:-
  • A black low cut converse shoes RM149.00- waiting for a discount. I just can’t bring myself to fork out that money since I can have a similar pair of shoes (Northstar) for RM30.00 which I have bought twice before.
P/S: The lousiest secret santa I ever had was 2-boxes of candle sticks, the plain white one. I melted them and mixed dye in them for my witchcraft candle. – Thanks a lot Deb. Haha..

I am determine to make this December month a Good if not a Great month!

De-cember

I believe that i need to surround myself with positive thinking people. As i am easily influenced by the good and the bad.

The worst thing about No-vember is that my colleague asked me to write a wish for Ck & the wife on the wedding gift (a photo album), i was even thinking of not attending the wedding at that time. But a lot of people depended on me on the transport & make up. As if that wasn't bad enough, another colleague asked me to write a another wish on the card to be attached to the gift!

I did all those with a heavy heart.
I went to the wedding with a shattered heart (duii..).
I congratulate the wife & posed for photos with a smile on my face.
All the time wishing that i was the one drinking champagne instead of red wine & Cognac.

Today, i saw a ring on his finger.
The definite repellent for me as a constant reminder that he is now off limits.

Why Not Anybody Else?

Why is it always me who fell hard?! I thought Capricornians are supposed to be sure footed on uneven grounds..

A New Opportunity

A friend of mine called me up last Thursday during the Completion Dinner for my paint company project.
Letting me know that his company is looking for someone to fill up an E&I position in his company. The friend is also a new employee for this O&G company. I AM interested, and here comes the BUT:-

1) I will be doing an Electronic & Instrument workscope- which i know nothing of and i almost failed my Electronic subject in college.
2) I am waiting for my bonus to come out early next year to pay for my Japan trip (28/4/2011-11/5/2011)
3) We were promised a company trip next year (also the same time frame as my personal Japan trip...shieeet!!)

Reality is..I can't really say anything since i didn't submit any resume to him yet. Forgot my external HD at home and my resume is in it.
I mean i gotta stop being scared and just do it! Yes i am scared.
It is not about ME anymore. I have to think for my family. Well i have my brother to think about my family. But.. no!! Let me have that reason for me to go move ahead.
CK's getting married next weekend.. My boss is probably planning a trip without me anyway.. Reasons to go and grab just that opportunity in the ass. This is the transition that i have always wanted.

Short Weekend Holiday, Facial & Books

I will be going to Penang this Hari Raya Haji holiday which conveniently falls on the weekend (Monday will be another day off). This time it is not for a friend's wedding. This time it is with my colleagues. Not all of them of course.

I am a little excited about it 'coz this time it's with a different group of people :)

What's new with me.

Well, my project of a paint factory is basically completed, except for some variation order work.
Now i have another small project in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan which is just around the corner from the huge bundle market. I used to follow my cousins and went there to buy cheap clothes (for them, not me).

Now i only catch up on TV shows on the weekend. I don't really watch it anymore.
Not even my pc.
Now i am on my 3rd book of George R.R. Martin.- A Storm of Sword.
Book Three: A Song of Ice and Fire (book series)

I love them. Just wish i have someone to discuss it with because i have a few questions that i need answers. i can read till 2am! With the little screen of my iphone.
I have also been frequenting beauty parlors to do my facials. And i think it shows! I've got a few positives comments from colleagues and friends. On my recent trip back to KK, my uncle even asked me if i had Botox done!!??... huh..?

Everytime i went to do my facials, these people keep persuading me to buy their product. And i have managed to fend them off. I kept reminding myself that i have my Japan trip next year and i need to save money!! MORE MONEY!!.

Absent

I know i haven't been blogging for quite some time. Truth is my work has been real hectic. And all i wanted to do whenever i reached home is to sleep it off. I haven't even had the time to do a thorough research on my trip to Japan next year.

I have another short trip back to KK in the next couple of weeks. And then one more in December. And again end of January 2012 for Chinese New Year. Fuhh...
And as the end of the year is just around the corner, a few uncertainties came over me again.

And I think my boss hates me. Since he already found someone to replace me. He has all these plans for my other colleagues. But i heard none for me. Some times i think he is irritated with my voice alone. Maybe i have been successfully brainwashed by my other colleague. Anyway, only one way to find out. Come bonus time.

Weakling

I don't remember when i started to became so weak- emotionally.
Then i started noticing that it has everything to do with hormones. It's that time of the month. Yes, we women or rather 'I' hate to admit it. But I am hormonal.

book of the Sookie Stakehouse novel). Future Owner: Me :) !

An Impromptu Getaway

It's raining outside. I think all the extreme rides will be off limits. I am playing the part of a very boring tour guide. Sitting at the non-smoking area, waiting for the time to be 4.30pm. The time set by PapaRoach to go back to our hotel room.
Shit load of work to do. No worries, i'll be going back tomorrow. And work the next day. How am i to spend a quality time with my brother when all he wants to do is sit at Starbuck and play with his laptop?

This is the time that i soo wish that i have sisters instead of brothers!

Iphone 4 won't turn on

My iphone always scares me. Today, it won't turned on. I kept pressing the power button for a good 10 to 15 seconds, but no effect. I plugged it in a power outlet to charge it, even though i knew the battery was almost full last time i checked. Nothing.
Then i tried holding on to the home button, still nothing. I tried holding the power and home button for a few seconds. Didn't worked. After i went to the internet, it turns out that i need to hold them for 10-15 seconds and then everything is back to normal. Phew.. Another possible disaster averted.

White

Once, he asked me which car is better Mitsubishi (forgot about which model) or Mazda 3X?
I said i don't really like Mitsubishi and i like Mazda more.
One of my cobsultant are driving one, so i know what it looks like. Anyway, i was already converted ever since i saw a bunch of different colour but same model Mazda cars on the road all at the same time.
Super cool!
And the other day, he told me he already sold his car and got a Mazda. I didn't really believe him until that day he drove in with a white one.. Hm..

Bitchin'

People kept asking me what's my future plans? It is hard to figure it out since i want all these different things in life. Meaning, for me to get one of the things that i want, i'd have to give up the other. So, i basically ended up NOT getting what i want!

So instead, here i am again bitching about it.

Kitsu The Nail Salon

Went to the Kitsu Nail Salon at Bandar Puteri Puchong (opposite Giant) with cousin U with voucher that we got from groupon for RM39 each. Did their classic mani-pedi without patterns and callus removal. It felt so relaxing, i've been meaning to remove the hard dead skin on my heels. So now i did.
They used O.P.I. brand nail polish. And i painted black green on my fingernails and green on my toenails. I guess it should be the other way around. But i like black nails.

This is the only time that i wished the girls there put ab effort on promoting their services. But they do have a blog http://kitsu-thenailsaloon.blogspot.com/. This is my first time so i have nothing to compare it to. But i will definitely recommend people to try it out.

Cheers.

A SINGLE FEMALE GUIDE TO LONDON/PARIS/LONDON/NEWCASTLE/EDINBURGH/BRISTOL/WALES/NEWCASTLE/LONDON TOUR

There are a lot of people that are planning to take a trip to London & Paris. I hope that this will somehow help and it is going to be a loo..ong story, so … And I know that it is all about the money.:)

And don't worry, I feel that it is quite common for a female to travel alone. I have met a few on this trip alone.

FIRST LEG (KL TO LONDON)

I am offering my experience while planning my own trip- which I did in a little over 1 month. I took Air Asia flight to Stanstead which costed me RM3,176.00 for a return flight. To get to London, I took the bus to Victoria Coach Station for GBP10.00 purchased at the National Express counter at the airport. This bus stops at different stops along the way to Victoria Station.

It took me around 2hr 30min to reach Victoria Station. They just dropped us off near the train station. I have a map of the drop off area of the station. But you know how it is, when I'm there, I lost my sense of direction. I had to ask people for the direction to the tube/ train station.

I took a train from Victoria Station before 1am (when the station closes on weekdays or weekend) to King's Cross Station (GBP4.00) where my hostel is located.

There was a bus service that stops at King's Cross Station which I only found out through a travel guide at the airport. My hostel there was Clink 261 (total GBP34.50 which I booked through hostelworld.com and paid GBP4.35 or RM21.87(10% of the rates for booking fees for 2 nights). I'm sorry but I do not recommend people to stay there as there are no heater and hot shower there.

Tips:

  1. Please book your flight earlier as the price will rise more than RM200+ in just one day. It happened while I was still undecided on which airlines to choose and comparing different airlines fare. It only took me 2 days to make up my mind and booked the airline ticket. I don't regret taking Air Asia as I was really on a budget and could not even afford a couple extra hundreds for MAS/ Emirates.
  2. Since this is a very long journey from 13hrs-14hrs. I suggest you chose a more comfortable airlines such as MAS or Emirates which stops at Heathrow where they have a very good train services to a lot more destination in London. And throw vanities out the window- wear comfy clothes and no contact lenses.
  3. Come to think of it, book all your tickets on line. It is way cheaper.
  4. Take a pen with you. You'll be filling a few forms along the way at immigration. You will be required to show a return ticket at the checkpoint before they let you pass.
Met up with a friend at the hostel where we shared with 10 other girls. On my second night there, there was an incident where one of the girls snored too loud for the girl on my top bunk to sleep. So she kept slamming her fist on the bed. Resulting in me not being able to sleep even with my ear plugs on (another tip for you here). She proceeded to climb down and started snooping around the room to find out who's the culprit.

Moving on, we bought our 1 day pass at our hostel for GBP6.50+. And off we went exploring London.

- London Bridge (There wasn't anything here except for the old bridge and an old prison below). We tried mulled wine to warm up & had sandwiches for lunch.

- Tate Gallery (It was showing cement sun flower seed art by a Chinese artist- you can actually do a video recording of your questions that you wanted the artist to answer. We tried and ran off giggling when it started recording)

- Sherlock Holmes Museum (Miyoung- a Korean that toured London with us had this place in her places to visit list and we went in with her since it is quite near to my Madame Tussauds Wax Museum GBP25.50 places to visit. We went to a restaurant where they served fish and chips after the visit and we couldn't finished all of it, Miyoung even ordered a bowl of salad).

- Madame Tussauds Wax Museum (I was so excited surrounded by the famous wax figures)

- Buckingham Palace (It was closed and deserted when we reached there at about 5pm or 6pm. No guards in sight - in winter, it was so dark outside. I mean how secure is this place anyway?)

- London Eye (Miyoung wanted to ride it- so we went with her as well. We saw the famous Big Ben while we're up there- so I crossed that out on my checklist as well).

ß not in the exact sequence. All these places are accessible via tube & a lot of walking. My feet hurt and I was wearing a flat walking shoe. G was wearing leather boots with a bit of heel. Miyoung was wearing high heel boots!!

We were so crunched up on time so we didn't get to do any shopping in London Oxford Street (G bought her Long Champs hand bag here GBP60+). I really wanted to go to Camden Market. I read so many good reviews about this place. Boohoo…

There was some disruption on the tube services due to maintenance or strike. So we had to reroute and re-planned our route.

SECOND LEG (LONDON TO PARIS)

For my solo trip to PAris, I bought the return tickets on line for RM512.84 or EUR102.00. You can choose the seat that you want, be sure to choose seat that are facing forward for comfort. The seats carriage and seat number is written on the printout ticket. The train is equipment with power outlet so that you can even charge your hand-phone or laptop on board.

Tips:

  1. Be on time or arrive earlier to catch the public transport with your pre-purchased tickets. The train services are very punctual. Know when and where to board your ride. And ask around. Don't be too timid to ask for help because you don't want to be late and forced to repurchase your tickets. Over budget!
  2. Please be aware of the 1hr time difference between London & Paris. Everyone was already getting ready to get off when I thought I still have 1hr to reach Gare Du Nord.
  3. Be wary of Gypsies at the station asking 'Parlez vous Onglais'. And the pickpockets. I was careful to purchase a neck purse which I stuffed inside my winter coat and t-shirt. Better be safe than sorry. Well I had to, travelling alone and all.
  4. I did post my itinerary on my blogs. So that my friends/ family know my where about and ease their mind off of my safety.

I bought my 2days pass at the tourist information counter for zone 1,2,3 (where all the tourist attractions are located) for around EUR15.00 It was very confusing for me when I was in Gare Du Nord. I saw the map, tried to decipher it for almost an hour till I finally realized that I need to buy a ticket before I can walk to the preferred line. But the ticket counter is located inside the turnstile barriers!! Then I remembered my 2days pass ticket. I slide it in, and a sigh of relief. It let me pass. I had to buy another single ticket on my last day (I was there for 3 days) to ride the train back to Gare Du Nord for my train to London.

I stayed at Plug-Inn Hostel (bedroom with 3 other girls with ensuit bathroom & heater & free internet at the lobby) near Blanche metro station (Line 2- Blue color). 2 nights at EUR59.30. You will see the famous Moulin Rouge once you walked out of the station. It is exactly like the one in the movie starring Nichole Kidman & Ewan McGregor. I thought of buying the bus tour (red bus or yellow bus) at Gare Du Nord but I could not find the tourist center even after I was given the direction to it. I did plan to experience the Moulin Rouge Show. I heard that the show is amazing plus the ticket sold online is inclusive of dinner and drinks. Some even a tour thrown in it. But I scratched that out when I saw that I have to wear formal wear or dresses to this event (no jeans & sport shoes). It was freezing and my backpack can only fit so much stuff.

Tips:

  1. Check the operating days and time of the museums you planned to visit. Some of the museum closes on Tuesday.
  2. Shop at H&M at Champ Elysees.
  3. There is a Sephora store at Champ Elysees.
  4. The LV Store is also at Champ Elysees.
I arrived on a Monday, so after checking in at 3pm, I made the most of my time and went to The Louvre before it gets dark. It started to get dark pretty early in winter. Like around 4pm. I just had to go out of The Louvre so I can see the famous pyramid as shown in The Da Vinci Code and in one of Viva La Bam episode.

Tips:

  1. The Eiffel Tower lights up in blinking lights at night. So take a video of it. I didn't. I wish I had.
  2. Don't start buying souvenirs at the first peddlers you see. For me the closer it is to the metro station, the more expensive it gets. I got my keychain at 6nos. for EUR1. If I am not mistaken. I saw in others blog that they can actually get 10nos. keychain for EUR1. I tried to bargain for that deal but unsuccessful. Just buy the plain silver and copper colored. The multicolor did not look as appealing once I started distributing it. The colors peeled off.
The next day I went to all these places:-

  • Sacre Coeur & Montmartre (my hostel was located at Montmartre, I was advised by roommate to have a look at this place first as it is just around the corner. When they said it's very near, never trust them. When they said it's around 10min walk, make that 30-45minutes walk. Add a few more minutes if your map reading skills sucks).
  • Notre Dame Cathedral (Admission is free: so I went in and bought me a book on the cathedral for GBP2 coins as I learned from The Louvre that there won't be any explanation board on the history of the place).
  • The Natural History Museum (I went to this place and couldn't find the entrance. I just stood outside and see shadows of the erect dinosaur bones. I wasn't sure if it was closed as well because I didn't see any tourist trying to get in. But then again, I saw comments from past visitors that this is not worth it).
  • The Pantheon (I didn't went in so no comments here. The place is near a college and you can see a lot of students hanging around smoking ciggies. I stopped for lunch at a Japanese fast food restaurant on my way back to the metro station).
Both side of the road from the Obelisk of Luxor up to Arc De Triumphe were lined with white tents selling hot drinks, foods, trinkets etc (During X'mas month). I bought hot chocolate at one of these tents for EUR2.50 and had Mc Donald EUR5.40 for a burger and latte at Champ Elysees.

I went to these places:-

  • Eiffel Tower
  • Obelisk of Luxor
  • Champ Elysees (Shopping)
  • Arc De Triumphe
ß also not in the exact sequence. I felt a little bored as there wasn't much that I can do except taking pictures and the validation that 'Yes, I'm here. Now what?' I could climb on the Eiffel Tower & Arc De Triumphe but I didn't. I crammed the majority of my sightseeing in one day. Not a good idea. My feet was already killing me from all the walking I did in London.

I didn't get the much publicized Paris Pass because I feel that I don't need it. It was more expensive and I don't feel like visiting too many museums.

I felt like I walked a lot even with the train pass because some of the transit to switch to other lines is quite a walk away with deserted walkways/tunnels. But I was travelling alone and I felt that I minimized the chances of me the getting lost in a foreign land. I don't know how time consuming it is compares to walking straight to the places of attraction.

On my last night in Paris, Chika my roommate from Japan told me that she saw Prada handbags sold for EUR60+ in the shopping mall which is located 10minutes walk away from our hostel. Maybe if you run all the way downhill! She had been travelling for 6 month and a veteran at high speed walking. I am an apprentice so I started an hour early to the shopping mall before the mall actually opened. I did my shopping at Gallery La Fayette in less than 2 hrs. This is also quite near to Printemps- another department store.

Tips:

  1. The tax 13% reduction is only valid if you shopped for EUR175. After you bought your stuff and gotten the receipt from the shops, you need to find the counter (for Gallery La Fayette it was located at the lower floor) and ask them to fill in a form for you before you go to the airport. I heard that you may need to arrive early to the airport to settle all these documentation. I don't really know the procedure. Sorry.

THIRD LEG (PARIS TO LONDON)

I arrived well after the scheduled boarding time of Eurostar back to London St. Pancras, lucky for me- the train was delayed due to the heavy snow. Don't take your chances- be early!

Tips:

  1. If you know you are going to be late because of unavoidable circumstances plus you will be out of budget if you missed your transport, just do it like I did. Cut queue while saying sorry, run like mad- with all your heavy backpack and newly purchased goods, ask questions and run like mad again. You can rest when you're dead.
  2. It is important that you have enough rest because your legs will feel like it was about to fall off from all the walking.
FOURTH LEG (LONDON TO NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE & WEAR)

I went to Victoria Station from King's Cross Station. I bought my National Express bus ticket to Newcastle on line for GBP13.00 or RM71.39 (round trip). It is cheaper to buy a roundtrip tickets (Fun Fare Ticket). I just went to the departure hall where the screens were showing all the departure time complete with the bus number & gate number.

I was nearly stranded in London because of the weather, a few bus services were already canceled (I can only remember Yorkshire). I saw people leaving the station disappointed. Me?-I was anxious to get going and my bus was delayed a couple of times until we received a good news that a bus heading to Milton Keynes bus will take us and drop us off there for the Newcastle bus to pick us up to Newcastle Upon Tyne.

I was so relieved to be out of the cold and on that warm bus.

I arrived at the Newcastle bus stop before midnight. I tried to get a taxi which looked like she was waiting for a customer. But she was booked. So I asked her where the taxi stand is. And I went with the direction and got me on a taxi to Hilton. I reached in 5 to 10min. Done! Now the pressure is off. Oh, I met with a friend here. I can't elaborate on the price since it was all paid for by others.

It was the local advice that they don't take the local train anywhere as it is not safe. But I have tried it and I noticed that the locals did not purchase train tickets to board the train. I only saw a couple of out-of-towners busy buying the tickets at the ticketing machine.

So, after a couple of days rest, I finally walked up & down the hill to the shopping mall. There is a LOT of small hills everywhere in UK.

While I was in Newcastle, I was already really tired so I didn't visit any of the historical places there. The most is I went for shopping at Monument & Eldon Square. I found a good quality work shirt for GBP8.00. I bought 2 different colors. We bought ourselves cute sleeping camisole & shorts. I can't remember the price but it shouldn't be too expensive or else we wouldn't have bought it. We got ourselves a pair of bra's and panties for GBP6 or GBP8, Internacionale brand since it's a buy 1 free 1 deal. Anyway go to Primark, you might find something you like. I did go to a SportsDirect store for a Liverpool Jersey. It was GBP35 before they have the offer of GBP25. So I grab one. The basketball shoes are cheap as well. You can get one for GBP19.00. A very good one at GBP30.00+.

The Tesco Store in Newcastle near Hilton Hotel is no match for the Tesco Store in Malaysia. They have all kinds of foods and drinks and clothes there. I was stunned out of my mind. I want all of it.

It was very slippery with the ice on the walkway. G asked me to get myself Wellies (a snow boots with wide rubber sole), since I've slipped and almost fell a couple of times. It was colorful and I do think it's necessary but I didn't get one because of storage space and I don't feel like carrying to many heavy things for my journey back. It was priced at GBP15 (short) and GBP30 (Long). It could easily sold out in winter and you need to wait for a couple more days for other stocks to arrive. So grab one if you had a lot of walking to be done and don't get distracted by the colors on them. G got her from the store opposite French Connection.

FIFTH LEG (NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE & WEAR TO EDINBURGH WAVERLY)

I went to Edinburgh with G. We booked our train ticket from East Coast online website. We booked the Quiet Coach.
Again, I can't stress enough how important it is to be on time. The train does not wait for anyone. There will be a seat reserved for you when you booked on-line. There will also be an electronic message board on top of the luggage space to indicate where the boarding and destination.

The return tix is EUR19.00.

Tips:

  1. It should be a scenic journey to Edinburgh, so I recommend travelers to book the day time journey.
We stayed at Castle Rock Hostel (booked through hostelworld.com- the booking fees will be waived once you've booked for more than 3 hostels from hostelworld website), it is a decent hostel compared to London Clink 261 hostel. Equipped with hot showerß to me, this is the most important necessity especially in winter. The room that we stayed in with 14 other girls is quite cold even when our beds are quite near to the heater. But I kind of like this hostel. Another plus is it is complete with internet connection in the common room. This is a backpacker's hostel, so wash your own dishes and clean after yourselves. The room is provided with and individual locker. Anyway, just glean the internet for more information. I'm starting to sound like I'm promoting this hostel. The name of my bed is Mr. Strong, G got a Mr. Chatter Box. For the boys' room, I can only imagine that they are named Ms. Cutie Pie or some sort. Why the switch? Maybe to confuse those with bad intentions?

We got a little confused whether we should pay for breakfast because the receptionist said that we can have breakfast for free. But there was a sign there stating the price for breakfast & the website info also states that we need to pay for it. But we didn't. J

I love Edinburgh. It looks like a small town, but I was told that it was actually a city. I will definitely go there again to visit Lochness and other parts of Edinburgh. We only stayed there for 1 night. So we only managed to visit Edinburgh Castle, Caldon Hill and the Christmas fair. Try to look to the sky. You might see something unexplainable like we did while we're in Caldon Hill.

In the spirit of winter, we tried outdoor ice skating. We actually planned to do it after G found out about the rink online. It was a first for Ms. Sunshine. I was happy for her that her first time ice skating is in Scotland & in winter! I bragged about it for her. We had to walk the length of the icy slippery walk way on our skates! I am no expert, having only tried it once. But I am comfortable in roller blades. I guess that helped. I was already tired after a few laps, but is still tried to keep up. It was getting redundant after a few laps.

We ate at a Chinese buffet restaurant. It was really great. Ms. Adventurous had the traditional dish of Haggis. I had a more common dish of sausages that I like.

SIXTH LEG (EDINBURGH WAVERLY TO NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE & WEAR)

Simple, we went out the way we came in.

SEVENTH LEG (NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE & WEAR TO BRISTOL PARKWAY)

I booked my roundtrip train ticket to Bristol Parkway online. I took either Cross Country or East Coast Train. It cost me a fortune (RM583.25)
compared to my round trip Eurostar train tickets to Paris! I didn't want to risk it by taking the bus since the weather was very bad and I wanted to get back to Newcastle on time for my first ever LIVE EPL match between my club Liverpool. They lost by the way.

EIGHTH LEG (BRISTOL TO CARDIFF, WALES)

I met up with my cousin and stayed with their family while I was in Bristol. We bought our ticket on board the train.

We went to visit the Cardiff Castle but I have seen enough of Edinburgh Castle to feel ok to skip Cardiff Castle. I would have gone in if my niece F would join me. We had another Chinese buffet lunch which is around GBP6.00+ excluding drinks per person.

FAST FORWARD- NINTH LEG (CARDIFF TO BRISTOL), TENTH LEG (BRISTOL PARKWAY TO NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE & WEAR)

Went to watch EPL match at GBP60.00 per ticket. This is a Platinum Club ticket with a warm bar waiting for you at half-time. Nice seat as well. I could imagine that I could touch Torress when he came over to retrieve the ball.

ELEVENTH LEG (NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE & WEAR TO VICTORIA STATION)

Walk from Hilton Hotel to the bus station less than an hour before boarding time.

TWELFTH LEG (VICTORIA STATION TO STANSTEAD)

I bought my ticket upon boarding the bus which left every 15min for GBP10.00.

BOTTOM LINE

I changed RM5K to GBP.

I changed RM2K to EUR.

Total Spending for this whole trip in 16 Days is RM8,382.91

Morning texts

It's monday, and whose text did i normally get early in the morning? O and apart from my cousin G- which was unexpected :).

Well, Mr. Unavailable.. Turns out he missed the opening hour last friday to see his Chinese Dr and he has to go today. I mean it doesn't affect me in any bad way if he's on leave since he has someone to help him at site.

I just said take care and he offered some voluntary info on his doctor's visit without me having to ask.

Which i like :).

Big FAT Klutz

The result of badly covered drain at the back of IOI Mall carpark area.

It was dark and i wasn't expecting there'd be a hole just big enough for my leg to go through. Nice booby trap!

Love Spell- Victoria Secret

Everyone who knew me must have really been worried about me and my non-existing love life.

Ms. Serious& Pretty-Cool got me this when she was in the US.

When i first saw this, it is labelled 'LOVE SPELL' -Body Mist from Secret Garden-Victoria Secret. I didn't know what is it for. I ask Ms. Serious& Pretty-Cool what is it, and she didn't have any answer for me other than it's a body mist.

After just 1 squirt of this Love Spell. I was hooked.. Love the light scent it left on my skin. I can't help but smell myself in a salacious manner.. Haha..

I thank my friend after.

One Day in March

I guess now that i have 'recovered' from the recent accident that i had back in March, it's time for this blog to tell you the whole story.

I was returning back from work one night, the beige Myvi car in front of me has a faulty the third brake light. So i was really careful not to go too close. We drove past the traffic light as it turns green, i braked when i saw the Myvi stopped. That was when i was hit from behind by a Grand Livina and subsequently a Wira smashed into the Grand Livina. Funny thing was, i am from Sabah, the Grand Livina is with a KL plate number and the Wira is with a Sarawak plate number. Really was a 1Malaysia thing.

We moved our car to the roadside and I don't know why, but i called my Big Bro back home. I knew that he was not in a position to help me, but i panicked. I was tearing up and trying to hold back the choking sound that is coming out of my mouth. He told me to call the police-> i didn't. I took pictures of the cars.

By this time all the relatives/ friends of the other cars were already at the scene. So, naturally i called my cousin U. From the start when she picked up the phone, i already knew that she won't be coming to help me. I can tell that they (whole family) had just arrived at a restaurant and ordered their food. Again, i felt so alone surrounded by all these strangers trying to blame everything on me. But i kept my cool and argued back.

As you can see, the last car plate number is not censored because he just ran off. A hit and run case. The friend of the Wira driver was saying that he was just dropping off his wife and kid and will go to the police station opposite IOI mall after.

So i said, then i will meet you guys there. But nobody showed up. Everyone went to the Subang police station where they have traffic police. (You can't report/ settle an accident case at the Puchong police station). I ended up making a police report at the Puchong branch and drove all the way to Subang to settle the case.

The Grand Livina either conned me or Jedi mindtricked me into thinking that he braked on time, but the Wira is the one who hit his car resulting in him hitting my car. The Sergeant asked me if that was the case. How should i know i only knew that i was hit from behind. It was all a blur to me. The Sergeant then said that if that was the case, then the Wira is at fault and I can only claim from the Wira's insurance. Darn thing was the Wira ran. And one thing i knew is that the real driver of the Grand Livina is not the same guy who made the police report!!!

It was already 11.30pm by the time i was done with everything. Everyone failed me that day. The ones that do care is all the way across the oceans. :(

Tuesday, April 26, 2011

When i was little, i was always the odd one out. In my family and with my cousins (who have sisters to conspire against me). I have only me against the world. I do have best friends in school, but i wasn't accepted where it matters most. I used to feel guilty from wearing all the new clothes my parents bought for me and i tried to compensate by lending my cousin my dresses so that we can be pretty together. I did a lot of shady stuff back then that i am not proud of in order to feel like i am one of the crew.

When i was down and started complaining to my mom, she would remind me that 'i don't have to treat people like how they treated me (bad)'. In other words 'No Revenge please'. In a way, this might be the reason why i am such a passive person. I know that i don't have a high level of tolerance in me but is passivity and patience the same?

I would not return a wrong order from waiters. I would not say anything if the service i got is not up to par with what i have paid for. I would not charge the guy who banged into my car just because the police said it's not his fault. I would not demand the workshop people to fix my car paint at the area that was not suppose to have scratch marks on it.

Again!!

Hm.. SY canselled on me again..! But not entirely her fault. So i don't really blamed her.. I wanted to find Queer As Folk series, but can't find any at the dvd store that i frequented. Curiousity fueled after watching snippets from youtube. And i think i'll like it!

Sudden Bill Jump

FYI, I am very cautious about my phone bill. I checked it every time i can. By pressing *128*1*1# call.

I thought that the cutoff date for Digi is every 16th of the month. I kept checking so i know that i have:-
Outstanding Bill RM0.00
Unbilled Amount RM53.0+

So since i am still within that RM58/ month range i am still ok with it.

Yesterday, i was whatsapping with G in Perth while waiting for my turn/ chance of watching So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD). Again it is free texting with this app. After a while, we stopped and i watched youtube through my iphone. I kept receiving text from Digi saying that i have exceeded the 1G  plan. But again data plan is unlimited even after i exceeded the 1G plan. The shocking thing was, when i straightaway check the bill again, it shows that:-

Outstanding Bill RM83.56
Unbilled Amount RM9.00

Then i check my OCS Bill Summary- It was stated that the RM83.56 payment due date is 16th of May 2011.

Another one in the Unbilled Transaction shows:-

Unbilled RM43.40
Total Outstanding RM43.40

Then what should i pay on the 16th of April?

Haiya.. Bingung o sia..~ why bring forward the April bill to May? Is the RM43.40 my April bill?

Life doesn't start on weekends

-Life doesn't start on weekends-

This statement has been stucked in my head ever since i read it in another blog.
If so, then that's less than 100days in a year of enjoying what life has to offer (minus the holidays).

For me, it has always been like that. Couldn't wait for the weekends for me to go to the movies, eat nice food, meet up with friends and spending time with myself.

I know that this have got to change. But sometimes i just can't help it if i wanted to go home straight from work, hit the showers, dinner and curled up in my bed with a book (in that exact order).

Don't bother making out what's written :)

I Have a Room Mate!

My roommate hates me. Look what it did to my handbag & t-shirt!!
Bite Marks.
It is not a big fan of Saving The World. It shits everywhere. Especially in my drawer. I'm getting tired of cleaning it up. O.. get this, it likes playing with the used cotton in my dustbin (now my rubbish is hanging on the wall). Other Casualties: 1) The beads on a black blouse (which i bought in H&M Paris) 2) One of the strap on the dinner dress which i wore to GKC-C wedding (i bought in Taiwan) 3) The strap (to hang for drying) on my Big Heart (i bought in UK) 4) My 'Kain Bulu2'- :) (priceless) 5) The dinner dress which i wore to SM wedding. 6) The corner edge of one of my Charlaine Harris- The Sookie Stakehouse Novel Wow, now that i see the list. This/ these rat really do have a sweet tooth on my vacation haul.

Know-It-All

Recently, i was handed over a new project. And of course, along came a whole bunch of new people to deal with.

How do you provide explanations to a guy who claimed to Know-It-All ?
I was frustrated to the point where i said:-

"Since you already know everything, then what else do you want to know from us?"

I know i wasn't suppose to, but i just can't help it.

Betty’s Midwest Kitchen (America On A Plate)- Sunway

Heard a friend of mine SY raved about this restaurant for a very long time. SY, LP and I went there one time after coming back from Penang but it was closed at 3pm. It is located on the same road as Wong Poh Crab in Sunway. So we tried again yesterday for lunch. It was packed but we still managed to find us a seat. SY ordered the Ham & Mushroom Soup RM10.00, Bacon Tomato Spaghetti RM15.00, Country Fried Chicken RM15.00, Hot Coffee RM4.50 and Ice Lemon Tea RM4.30. Plus a 10% service charge it totaled up to RM53.70.

I didn't take any pictures of the food but here's the interior. So many people are blogging these days. So, check out their site for the food.

The friend- SY
When they recommended the Soup of The Day Mushroom Soup, I thought that it's the standard Campbell soup- white and powdery- well you get what I mean. It turned out to be watery, with mushrooms, lots of carrots but with a Campbell soup like smell. Makes me wonder how they managed to get that smell in there with all those other ingredients. * Still wondering*. Try it if you like carrot. I am not a carrot lover. So, it's not for me. I didn't like the little sweet taste too. The Country Fried Chicken is worth a try. The sauce made the crunchy fried chicken nice <--  Nice?! Not a food critic's choice of word!! That's because I'm not. The chefs/ food critics of Junior Master Chef definitely have a better description than nice!

The gravy did remind me of the Western Cowboy Restaurant (Not even sure if this is the correct name) at Desa Petaling. They have more food and beverage choices there. They have that kind of gravy and you can have it on your fish, chicken chop, pork chop and whatever chop they have. I think it's called Marmalade Fish/Chicken/Lamb/Pork there. I preferred it on my fish. Me<-- not much of a meat eater. Tried it on my chicken chop once, don't like it. I have been persuading my colleagues to go there with me but we just couldn't find the time and patience to go through heavy traffic jams for it when it opens at 6pm.
